Building is more than a profession for Shaun — it is a lifelong craft.
Shaun’s journey in construction began at just 16 years old when he started his carpentry apprenticeship under the mentorship of a respected builder who remains an important influence in his life today. From those early days on site, Shaun developed a deep appreciation for quality workmanship, attention to detail, and the pride that comes with creating something built to stand the test of time.
Over the following decades, Shaun built an impressive breadth of experience across the residential building industry. He successfully managed teams of more than 20 trades and staff, delivering full home builds for major building companies and developing a reputation for reliability, leadership, and exceptional standards.
In 2015, Shaun recognised that his true passion lay not only in constructing homes, but in working closely with clients to transform the homes they already loved. That same year he obtained his Unlimited Builder’s Licence through the VBA, and Built To Last Homes evolved from a carpentry operation into a boutique building company specialising in high-quality renovations and extensions.
Today, Built To Last Homes is proudly a family-run business led by Shaun and his wife Sharee. Together they work closely with a small team of trusted trades and professionals who share their values of craftsmanship, honesty, and genuine care for every project they undertake.
Beyond the building site, Shaun and Sharee lead a busy and fulfilling life raising their four children while managing their property, home to a small collection of sheep, goats and alpacas. When time allows, they enjoy the simple pleasures — sharing good food with family and friends, gathering around a campfire, or spending time in the shed bringing new ideas to life.
For Shaun, building has never simply been about construction.
